The more information you provide now, the better idea our guides get of what you are most looking forward to and can customize aspects of the trip for you. Health & Fitness

It is imperative that you are honest with all answers and disclose all medical conditions. Medical conditions do not preclude you from participating on Multi day Expeditions, but if something were to happen it is absolutely necessary for you guide to know of any pre existing conditions.

Mental Preparation(Required)

Wilderness travel is a fun, relaxing and awe-inspiring activity. You may also be cold, wet, tired, sore, nervous, bug bitten and uncomfortable. A positive attitude and flexibility are important tools for coping with the travails of wilderness travel. Please be certain you are comfortable with the risks involved before making this reservation.

Participants Should be in Good Physical Health(Required)

We will be in remote regions for extended periods of time and transportation to medical facilities can take hours to days depending on weather and other factors. A recent medical examination and discussion with your doctor about the specific trip you are undertaking is recommended. A minimum of a light exercise regiment is strongly encouraged prior to trip launch. The better physical shape you are in on the river, the easier it is to adapt to varying environmental conditions.

Excellent Condition: High energy levels, exercise daily and can hike over rough terrain.

Good Condition: Good energy levels, exercise multiple days per week, comfortable on varying terrain.

Enjoying Nature: Limited flexibility & endurance but plan to participate in group activities whenever possible.

Please describe any medical conditions that may impact your participation on this trip and any accommodations we may need to consider. While we are not medical professionals, all multi day guides possess a minimum of Wilderness First Responder training and this information can be very helpful in the field.

Medications(Required)

Please list all medications that you take, quantity and frequency. Please be specific on what the medication is prescribed for and how you will store it on the trip. Some medicines require specific storage techniques, please let us know if you will be bringing any such medication and how it will need to be stored.

Deposit & Cancellation Policy

A 20% non-refundable deposit per person/ per trip with personal check or credit card is required to confirm your reservation. Full payment is due 60 days prior to the trip start, and will be applied to Credit Card used for initial deposit unless otherwise arranged. Reservations made less than 60 days prior to the trip must be paid in full at time of booking. If you need to cancel more than 60 days prior to the trip, a refund will be given less 20% deposit. If 60 days or less notice of cancellation, 100% of funds paid will be retained by McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters.

Travelers’ Insurance

We strongly urge you to purchase travelers’/trip cancellation insurance. Your policy should include coverage for medical, emergency evacuation, and trip cancellation/ interruption, as well as coverage protecting your deposits and payments for air/land costs, should you have to cancel your trip. Coverage should start when you send in your initial deposit and many insurance policies have benefits for policies purchased with 10 days of making a reservation. See your travel agent, or visit www.insuremytrip.com, which offers links to a number of travel insurance carriers. You may incur significant financial liability if you do not purchase insurance.

Trip Cancellation

In the rare event that we cancel a trip due to circumstances that we could have avoided, we will give you a full refund. In such cases, financial responsibility of McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters, LLC. will be limited to the amount actually paid to McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters, by the participant(s), and shall not be extended to cover any other costs incurred by the participant(s). We reserve the right to refuse or terminate any participant, from any trip. We also reserve the right to cancel trips for under-enrollment. Please contact us for the minimum number of participants for your trip. Additionally, McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters is not obliged to refund trip costs in full or part if weather or other factors make completing the trip impossible or dangerous.

Delays & Schedule Changes

All wilderness trips are dependent on the weather and flight-service schedules. McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters reserves the right to change trip dates and/or details for these or other reasons. Trip charges do not cover the costs incurred as a result of bad weather, sickness, or other contingencies. Participants who vary from scheduled itineraries shall bear any costs thereof, which are not deductible from the trip prices. Inclement weather, mechanical difficulties and a host of other factors can delay travel; we cannot assume financial responsibility for costs due to delays or other events beyond our control. We strongly encourage you to arrange your travel at trips end, to accommodate weather delays. Flights out of Alaska or other activities that will be difficult to reschedule should not be planned within 48 hours of the scheduled end of any trip.
