Nizina River Rafting Expeditions – 4 & 6 Days

per person

The Nizina River is one of Wrangell-St. Elias National Parks river gems. The trip begins with a bush plane flight from McCarthy and drops off at Nizina & the terminus of the mighty Nizina Glacier. Spending the first day of the trip at Nizina Lake allows for exploration of this recently glaciating area. Combining fun & challenging whitewater, giant icebergs floating in a glacial lake, “mile high” limestone cliffs, and an extraordinary number of waterfalls, this river expedition will please any adventurer in your crew.

Difficulty Level: Moderate
The Nizina River Expedition is considered a Moderate trip for those adventurers looking to journey a little further into the Alaskan Bush. Great for folks with previous river experience or newcomers with an increased desire for adventure. Incredible chances to spot wildlife, very remote, and up to Class III+ whitewater with large volume and braided river channels.

    4-6 Day Nizina River Trip
With much trepidation, I signed up for a multi-day rafting trip down the Upper Nizina River. I’m so so glad I didn’t miss this truly life-changing experience. To say it was one of the best choices I’ve ever made wouldn’t begin to cover it. It was beautiful, breathtaking, and exhilarating, and I would do it all over in a heartbeat……and I plan to! The guides are fabulous. I had no experience with river rafting, and they made me comfortable and …… they’re great cooks to boot!! This should be on everyone’s bucket list!!
