Operating Permits

McCarthy River Tours operates under special use permits issued by the United States Forest Service (USFS) and the National Park Service (NPS).

We’re authorized to guide expeditions in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve and Chugach National Forest—two of Alaska’s most pristine wilderness areas. These permits require demonstrated safety standards, environmental stewardship practices, and guide qualifications that meet federal requirements.
